Like all entries in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest, entries in the Nicholas Maxim Award for Manuscript and Nicholas Maxim Award for Cursive categories are judged using the Zaner-Bloser Keys to Legibility, a rubric assessing shape, size, spacing, and slant.
